Oversize Transport Permits

Standard dimensions ( movement allowed without a permit )

  • Tractor unit + semi‑trailer: 16.5 m × 2.55 m × 4.00 m – 40 t
  • Truck + trailer: 18.75 m × 2.55 m × 4.00 m – 40 t

Exceeding any of the above parameters (dimensions, gross mass, or axle loads) already requires obtaining a permit for oversize transport.

Single-use permit (Einzelgenehmigung)

  • Scope: a specified route, up to 10 trips
  • Validity: 30 days
  • Vehicles: 1 tractor unit + 1 semi‑trailer

Annual permit (Jahresgenehmigung)

  • Scope: entire territory of Switzerland, up to 10 trips
  • Validity: 1 year
  • Vehicles: 1 tractor unit + 1 semi‑trailer

Note: Swiss regulations state that for weights from 46 to 120 tons, at least two driven axles are required.

Approximately 5 working days.

There is no possibility to extend the validity of an already issued permit. In such a case, a new permit application must be submitted.

Transits take place in accordance with the conditions of the permit.

As a rule, they are allowed between 05:00 and 22:00.

Cancellation costs depend on the stage of order processing and the timing of the cancellation in relation to the planned start of the escort operation.

The same principle applies to permit cancellations — the later the cancellation is made, the higher the potential costs, resulting from preparatory work already completed, submitted applications, and allocated resources.

  • Length exceeds 35 m,
  • Height exceeds specified limit values (depending on infrastructure and regulations—usually when there is a risk of contact with power lines, viaducts, etc.).
