Oversize Transport Permits

Standard Dimensions – Transport Without a Permit

Max. 22 m (length) × 3 m (width) × 4 m (height) – up to 50 t, on condition that:

  • the vehicle combination itself does not exceed 16.5 m × 2.55 m × 4 m – 40 t,
  • the load being carried is indivisible,
  • no permit is required if the distance from the centre of the last axle to the end of the load is ≤ 5 m.

A permit is required if any one of the following parameters is exceeded:

(applies to divisible loads, while maintaining permissible axle loads)

  • Rigid truck: 12 m × 2.55 m × 4 m
  • Tractor unit + semi‑trailer: 16.5 m × 2.55 m × 4 m, 50 t
  • Truck + trailer: 18.75 m × 3 m × 4 m, 40 t

Permanent permit. Maximum dimensions:

  • Tractor unit (without steering axles): 22.00 × 3.50 × 4.25 m, 50 t
  • Semi‑trailer (without steering axles): 22.00 × 3.50 × 4.25 m, 50–100 t (depending on number of axles and registration)
  • Semi‑trailer (with hydraulic steering axles and extendable): 27.50 × 3.50 × 4.25 m, 50–100 t
  • Validity: 1 year
  • Scope: entire territory of the Netherlands

Single‑trip permit

  • Validity: from 4 to 12 weeks
  • Scope: designated route

The condition for obtaining any type of permit is the registration of the vehicle in the Dutch system.

Registration of the vehicle in the Dutch system is a required preliminary step before applying for a permit. The registration process takes about 2–7 working days.

The processing time of the permit application depends on the dimensions and weight of the transport:

  1. Up to 2–4 working days: for transport with parameters up to 27.5 m × 3.5 m × 4.25 m and 100 tons.
  2. Up to 4–6 working days: for transport with parameters up to 40 m × 4.5 m × 4.5 m and 100 tons.
  3. Up to 5–7 working days: for transport exceeding 40 m × 4.5 m × 4.5 m and/or a weight of 100 tons, up to a maximum of 150 tons.

Permits are not subject to extension. Once the validity period has expired, a new permit application must be submitted.

The process consists of two stages: registration of the vehicle and the permit application.

1. Documents for vehicle registration in the system

To carry out the registration, technical documents from the vehicle manufacturer are required, such as:

  • COC certificate (Certificate of Conformity)
  • Detailed technical specification
  • Technical drawing with dimensions
  • Technical data sheet (Ficha Tecnica, Scheda Tecnica, etc.)

2. Documents for the permit application

The basis for applying for a permit is:

  • Vehicle registration certificate for the vehicle for which the permit is to be issued.
  • Confirmation of vehicle registration in the system (an optional but recommended document).

Cancellation costs depend on the stage of order processing and the timing of the cancellation in relation to the planned start of the escort operation.

The same principle applies to permit cancellations — the later the cancellation is made, the higher the potential costs, resulting from preparatory work already completed, submitted applications, and allocated resources.

Organization of Oversize Transport Operations

Oversize transport is a complex logistics operation that requires precision, experience, and excellent coordination.

???? Professional Route Planning
We analyse every kilometre of the route: bridge load capacity, turning radii, roundabouts, overpasses, detours, as well as both temporary and permanent roadworks. Planning begins well before the vehicle’s first movement.

???? Transport Escort
Specialised escort vehicles, equipped in accordance with applicable regulations, ensure a smooth and safe passage, responding dynamically to real-time road conditions.

???? Documentation and Formalities
Permits, approvals, and agreements with road authorities and other institutions — we take care of every document required for a safe and legal transport operation.

????️ Detailed Logistics Planning
We select optimal transit times, plan alternative routes, monitor weather conditions, and consider all external factors that may impact execution.

Result?

???? Oversize transport is carried out safely, legally, and on time, with full control at every stage — from initial planning to final unloading.
